C.B. Fenton & Co. was founded in 1916 with the purpose of providing port agency services to the vessels transiting the then recently opened Panama Canal. In the course of the next 100 years we continued to dedicate our utmost efforts to attend vessels’ transits and owners matters requirements, always aiming to fulfill the high standards of our customers worldwide and adapting to the ever-changing market needs. In the year 2012, C.B. Fenton & Co. was acquired by Ultramar (Chile) and, therefore, becoming part of a global network of ship agencies and other related companies in the maritime business, with more than 14,000 people.
Following the mentioned acquisition in 2012, our logistics division, ULOG, was established allowing our company to expand our scope of services, attending inland, maritime and air freight requirements. Later, such scope increased further when C.B. Fenton & Co. was appointed as the commercial representative of Yang Ming Transport Corporation in 2016.
Panama Canal Transits
C.B. Fenton & Co. started as a maritime agency focused on the attendance of vessels transiting through the Panama Canal. Today, more than 100 years later, while new business units have been developed, the attendance of vessels transiting the Canal continues to be our core business with more than 100 vessels attended for transit every month. Our goal is to provide guidance and advice to our customers on the Panama Canal’s regulations and grant a smooth coordination of the operation with the Panama Canal Authority.
C.B. Fenton has gained wide experience along the years attending vessels calling Panamanian ports to perform load or discharge operations of liquid bulk, solid bulk, break bulk, research vessels, bunker coordination, etc. No matter the terminal location, our service meets our customers’ high expectations through fluent communication and timely reports, all supported by our local knowledge and relations built with local authorities and suppliers.
Vessels’ owners have their own set of requirements when calling Panama. Therefore, our husbandry division was developed as a specialized business unit to attend such requests, which include crew changes, spare parts deliveries, cash to master, sludge/slop removals, underwater inspections, hull cleaning as well as any other service related to the ship’s technical aspects. Our husbandry team effectively handles about 750 vessels, 2,500 crew changes and close to 800 airwaybills annually.
